We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and creative team player to join our team of multi-disciplinary environmental professionals. You will be responsible for providing a wide range of scientific and regulatory compliance services in support of the Department of Water Resources (DWR) continued operation and maintenance of the State Water Project; flood protection and levee maintenance activities; and protection and restoration of the State's ecosystem.
As a member of the Hazardous Materials and Environmental Evaluations Unit, you will have the unique opportunity to work in both the hazardous material and biological realms. Not only will you be preparing, conducting, or reviewing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, multi-media sampling and analyses, remedial investigations, but you will also plan, coordinate, conduct, or oversee environmental permit applications, biological surveys for special status species, and construction monitoring.
You will also have the chance to prepare and review work plans, sampling plans, and management plans while also getting the opportunity to review and respond to environmental documents prepared by DWR, outside consultants, and other government agencies.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
Ability to work both independently and in a team setting; possess initiative and a desire to learn; strong project management skills including experience managing projects; knowledge of federal, State, and local environmental laws and regulations; experience or knowledge in remedial investigations (particularly lead and asbestos) is a plus; experience conducting field biological surveys; experience conducting hazardous material related work; and experience preparing technical documents.
