The Diabetes business is one of the most exciting, dynamic, and challenging spaces in medical devices. More than 463 million people worldwide suffer from diabetes, and this is expected to reach close to 600 million in 10 years. The diabetes device industry is unique in that technologies available to monitor and manage diabetes are starting to converge with consumer electronics technology. As such, the experience is evolving; people living with diabetes have a stronger voice in therapy choice, care is transitioning away from specialists, and the role of artificial intelligence is elevating care.
As Principal User Experience Content Designer in the Customer Centered Design team, you will approach design through the lens of language, collaborating with UI/UX designers, user researchers, clinical experts, and marketing to distill complex medical information into digestible content that is easy to understand and act upon. By empowering individuals with knowledge, we can enable them to make informed decisions about their health, adhere to treatment plans, and effectively manage their condition. In addition, content design helps foster user trust, engagement, and long-term loyalty to our platform.
The role reports into the Senior Manager of User Experience.?
There are options to work remote (US-based). Preference will be given to candidates open to working in our Southern California office.
A portfolio of work demonstrating experience creating exceptional content design solutions is a requirement for application.
A Day in the Life - Design, write, edit and test clear, compelling in-product language to help users and their caregivers safely and effectively manage their diabetes.
- Create processes and tools to support the UX Content Design practice. This includes defining extensible design system guidance, conducting audits of existing experiences, extending brand guidance from marketing, or creating content frameworks.
- Collaborate and contribute to UI designs using Figma to communicate concepts and designs to internal partners.
- Partner with our localization and translations team to ensure product experiences are of the highest quality in every language.
- Lead the UI design for mobile apps that meet user, caregiver, and business needs, align with UX strategy, and are technically feasible.
- Continuously learn, grow, and improve your craft.
- Encourage a content design process that is scalable, delivers consistency, creates efficiencies, and supports cross-team collaboration.
- Work closely with product leads, design team, and development programs to plan design efforts and define goals.
- Participate in initial exploration processes to identify user needs and opportunities to satisfy those needs.
- Interact directly with users through human-centered design techniques including participation in observational research, interviews, and concept testing to uncover needs, learn about user behavior and explore content design concepts.
- Direct the creation of interactive prototypes for mobile apps.
- Lead content definition activities, such as workshops and requirements sessions.
? Must Have: Minimum Requirements - Experience in simplifying and communicating complex ideas for targeted audiences.
- Bachelor’s Degree required with 7+ years of relevant experience or advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.
- A strong candidate will present their work via portfolio, case studies, or other examples.

? Nice to Have - Demonstrated experience of content design for consumer-level mobile and web applications.
- Experience using Figma.
- Experience creating content to support Section 508 / WCAG 2.0 accessibility guidelines.
- Experience designing for internationalization and supporting localization efforts.
- Working knowledge of HTML / CSS / JavaScript / XML
- Work effectively with all levels of the organization
- Communicate clearly, in written, verbal, and visual forms, with both technical and non-technical team members.
- Ability to quickly understand and become proficient in domain knowledge.
- Working knowledge of diabetes therapy, clinical data, business plans and competitive products.
- Medical device experience.
