Reporting to the Vice Dean of Faculty, the ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and an entrepreneurial mindset. The Faculty Director will provide day-to-day oversight and support for the program's strategic initiatives and projects, and collaborate with multiple stakeholders within and beyond SCS to advance the Sports Industry Management program's mission and impact.

The Faculty Director is the academic leader of the SIM program, with responsibility for curriculum development and oversight for on-ground and online courses, as well as for the management and faculty within the program. We are seeking faculty with exceptional leadership experience who value innovation, collaboration and collegiality, and who can lead and support teams of colleagues in academic and faculty affairs, learning design, technology and operations, and marketing and enrollment management, to drive the quality, rigor, and growth of the SIM program. The ideal candidate must be passionate about teaching graduate and professional students and contributing to the intellectual life of the university.

This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure line faculty position with teaching and administrative responsibilities, including:

  • Teaching 3 - 5 graduate courses (9 - 15 credits) per academic year;
  • Leading the SIM program's planning and execution efforts to ensure the quality of the academic experience and to foster the program's growth;
  • Overseeing curriculum management processes and initiatives, including curriculum design and development, curriculum mapping and alignment, and curriculum innovation and change;
  • Coordinating the SIM program's teaching and learning design initiatives including course design and maintenance, assessment of program learning outcomes, technology-enhanced learning, and equitable and inclusive teaching and learning;
  • Implementing quality assurance processes and practices, including internal and external academic program reviews, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements;
  • Managing faculty talent programs and processes, including recruitment, onboarding, contracting, evaluation, and recognition, to ensure the SIM program has a prepared and engaged world-class faculty;
  • Resolving faculty-related conflicts, grievances, and complaints in accordance with relevant university policies and procedures;
  • Collaborating with colleagues in marketing, admissions, and enrollment management to execute strategies that support and enhance student recruitment, retention, and success;
  • Building partnerships with industry and alumni to support student career advancement, drive curricular innovation, and elevate the program's reputation.


Qualifications


Candidates must hold a graduate degree in sports industry management or a related discipline. A doctorate or terminal degree is preferred. We are seeking applicants who demonstrate a commitment or have a record of excellence in teaching. Experience with technology-mediated learning and graduate teaching is preferred. The successful candidate must be a visionary leader who can adapt and guide the program toward the changing sports industry management landscape, and serve as a thought leader who can contribute to the intellectual life of the School and actively participate in industry or academic convenings. Applicants should have experience collaborating with diverse professionals and teaching students from a variety of backgrounds.


The appointment can begin as early as January 2025. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor of the practice rank, depending on teaching and professional experience. The initial appointment is typically for two or three years and is renewable indefinitely based on ongoing curricular and programmatic needs and positive performance evaluation.


The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position is $110,000.00- $160,000.00, which represents the full range of anticipated compensation for this position. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
